Entering the Stage

Hello, amazing people! I’m Alex, and you’ve just stumbled into my little pocket universe of a blog. Welcome! Since you’re already here, I’ll mention that this is my very first post—so maybe lower your expectations just a bit, then dive right in!

‘Great, another new blogger springing up from nowhere,’ you might be thinking. And guess what? You’re absolutely right. I’m starting a blog in 2024, right in the middle of all the craziness: pandemics, the endless economic crisis, and the rise of Skynet—erm, I mean AI.

The idea of starting a blog and sharing my thoughts with the vast internet isn’t new. I checked my Instagram account recently, only to realize I created it back in early 2022—over two years ago! That fact alone shows what a procrastinator I am. So, why now? What made me finally start? Simple, I think. I grew up—or maybe, I just wanted to start growing again!

As you might guess from the Terminator reference, I’m not the youngest up-and-comer. I recently entered my early thirties, which, for some, is practically ancient—but I feel optimistic about what’s ahead, even though there were times I felt the exact opposite.

Keeping up with today’s constantly changing world can be overwhelming; it often feels like we’re caught in an endless game of catch-up with innovations and a seemingly endless stream of news popping up from every device imaginable. That’s why I believe trying to go faster in a world that never stops speeding up isn’t just unwise—it’s impossible. Instead, it’s better to slow down a little, take a breath, and think about what really matters—to you. Staying current with everything was draining me, slowly turning me into someone I didn’t recognize.

I didn’t like that! Oh, no. I wanted to feel like ‘me’ again—not just what the environment was turning me into. So, before I became a mindless zombie, I started making changes. I needed a fresh start, and, though it sounds a bit cliché, I needed to find myself—not who I was but who I wanted to be. Sometimes, if you keep heading in one direction without stopping to consider where it’s leading, you end up somewhere foreign, asking, ‘Is this where I wanted to be?’

The answer was a resounding “No!”

Around the same time, things weren’t looking all that shiny at work, and I took it as a cue to move on. I wanted to experience more than just the circular life of work, exercise, and weekend parties. I wanted to travel, experience new things—whether close to home or somewhere new—and I wanted to write again. It took longer than I’d expected to ‘unbend’ my stubborn mind, but eventually, it started to work.

So, if you’re interested in reading more, maybe looking for a bit of encouragement to step out of your comfort zone, or if you want to make changes in your life but feel stuck, don’t worry—I’ve got your back. We can do this together.

So, Alex, that’s great, but what kind of stuff will you write about next? Well, I have plenty of stories to share, and since my list of failures is long (and life humbles me in the most creative of ways), I want to write about those experiences, how to build a more optimistic mindset, and share a few stories from my limited travel adventures. Inspiration and growth come in many forms and from unexpected places—a lesson I’ve learned along the way.

And there it is—my first blog post is finished. Whew! Another item checked off my mental checklist. I hope you feel a bit inspired, and I promise to share more stories in upcoming posts.

See you next time!
